On Thursday, 12th February 2026, at exactly 6:00 a.m., the Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly organized a large-scale decongestion exercise across major parts of the central business area. The exercise was aimed at reducing congestion, improving traffic flow, and enhancing sanitation and safety within the municipality’s commercial zones.

The operation was led by officials of the Municipal Assembly, supported by security personnel, task force members, and sanitation officers. Street vendors, hawkers, and traders operating on pavements, roadsides, and unauthorized spaces were asked to vacate the areas to allow for free movement of pedestrians and vehicles. During the exercise, structures and makeshift stalls that obstructed walkways and roads were removed. Traders were educated on the importance of using designated market spaces and complying with municipal regulations. Some items were confiscated, while warnings were issued to offenders who refused to comply.

Municipal authorities stated that the decongestion exercise was part of ongoing efforts to maintain order, reduce traffic congestion, and promote a clean and organized business environment. Residents and commuters welcomed the exercise, expressing hope that it would lead to improved movement and better business conditions in the area. The Municipal Assembly also announced that periodic monitoring would continue to ensure that traders and motorists comply with the regulations, and appealed to the public for cooperation in keeping the central business district orderly and accessible.
